Should I do it myself, or have the dealer do it?

Do it yourself - it’s not hard. A little bit of heat from a hair dryer - not direct - and some dental floss (may have to double it up if it’s weak on first try. There are a lot of videos on youtube that will help more than this post - but youtube is blocked at work, so I can’t find one.
I debadged my FiST (just the ugly Fiesta emblem) the day after I got it.

Hair dryer, floss/fishing line, Goo-Gone, a plastic blade, and some effort are all you need.

Are you really that mad at VW - for what purpose would you debadge the car?

Do it yourself with a hairdryer and a microfibre cloth with some white spirit, making sure to dry it immediately with a soft dry cloth once the sticky is off.

You can do it! Just make sure your car does not have any of those badges that will uncover holes/indents/other things that you cant change.
I used a heatgun (very gently) & fishing line to get the badges off. Then I used my fingernail and some automotive spec “Goo Gone” to get ride of the adhesive.

Do it yourself. Unless its the dealer badging. Then tell them you’re not into advertising for them.
If you’re talking manufacturer badges, some fishing line (in a pinch an old credit card will work) and some goo-gone is your friend.
Unless yours have those little pins that snap into the sheet metal like on my MAZDA and (\/) logos.

Modern badges are held on with 3M tape, or something like it, so remove it yourself. That is unless a dealership will do it for free. Sometimes the stuff doesn't want to proper;u com off and that's a hassle.

Don’t? I mean, if its dealer crap then yeah, but otherwise...
I guess I can see the clean look and if that’s your jam go for it, in which case I wouldn’t ask the dealer to do it.

How about de-car-ing the badges?

I was going to say the same thing about the alignment holes. They can be patched if you’re up for some bodywork, or of course you can cover them back up with a different badge.

Do it yourself. All you need is some fishing line, goo be gone, and rubbing alcohol. If it is cold where you are at use a hairdryer. Warm up said emblem with hair dryer if cold outside, work fishing line between car and emblem, go back and forth easy, when it falls off use goo be gone to clean up/remove residue, and then wipe it down with alcohol. I did my brother’s new Colorado Z71, and I had a pain with the rear Chevy emblem. I had to put goo be gone on it prior to remove the emblem to loosen up the adhesive.

If you want to debadge it, keep the badges and reapply them when you want to sell the car.

Not hard to do. In fact if you’re going to debadge, do it now before you get any shadow in the paint. Bit of rubbing alcohol and a heat gun to heat up the glue. Fishing line or old credit card can be used although I get my best results with my thumbnail.

I already had them remove the dealer badge, then the dealer frames.

Do it yourself, or don’t be surprised when the tech uses a flat head.
That's gonna leave a mark!

Yourself. I recommend dental floss, not fishing ling. It is thinner and less likely to damage paint. And a hair dryer over a heat gun so you don’t have to worry about damaging the paint as much.

It’s just me in the family that prefers the clean look without badges. Hence the fact that none of our cars are debadged.
